Bucking the trend for ultra-tough mountainous events in the Lake District, the inaugural Ullswater Triathlon aims to give competitors the chance to race in one of the most beautiful parts of England without the need for a ‘granny gear’ on the bike or off road shoes!

The race, to be held on Saturday 13 July 2013 over the standard 1.5k/40k/10k distance, features an undulating cycle through the nearby Lowther Estate and a flat and fast 10k run in and around Pooley Bridge.

Phil Whitehead, of race organisers ‘Sport in Action’ commented, “We hope we’ve created an event with the enjoyment of the athlete very much the focus. We’ve kept the entry fee low and made it a Saturday afternoon to allow weekend camping and a more leisurely start. The course is ideal for both the experienced competitor and the novice stepping up to standard distance. “
