Race updates Posted on: Monday 28th August 2006 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend Sara Gross finished up 5th at Ironman Canada, Jasper Blake won the mens race in 8:33:58 with Belinda Granger winning the womens in 9:25:13. Loads of Brits there, many of them ex-pats so check for both ENG and UK in the results. Race report is on the ironmanlive website and the results are also now online. Oh, and expect the 25th anniversary race to be a total sell-out today -- over 500 people queued all night... Another classic North American race is the Chicago Triathlon -- used to be known as Mrs Ts after the main sponsor but now that's Accenture. Results are online and there are definitely GB and IRE athletes there but you'll have to do a bit of searching to find them. Try the timing company website and put a 0 (zero) in the State field on the search form: http://www.timberlinetiming.com Harry Wiltshire won the ITU's new World University Championships in Lausanne on Saturday, hopefully a preview of what is to come this weekend. Mark Bruce was 9th and Lawrence Fanous 33rd. Wednesday sees the Aquathlon -- we traditionally do well here with both Richard Stannard and Tim Don picking up medals -- and the main action starts on Saturday 2nd with the AWAD and Age Group championships. Sunday 3rd September sees the elite and U23 race. The ITU website will be covering all the races live, including the age groupers, keep in touch through their website: www.triathlon.org We will try to get a GB summary up at the end of the day on Saturday to list all the age group medals. At the European Long Distance Championships in Almere Bella Comerford finished 4th, just six seconds behind 3rd place, with Abigail Bayley 6th and Rachel Horn 9th. Stephen Bayliss finished 6th with Russel Kober 17th, Alun Woodward 20th, Sam Renouf 29th and James Parker 33rd. Age group Gold medals went to Scott Neyedli (M 25-29) and Daph Belt (F 65-69), Silvers to Lucy Haywood (F 30-34) and Anne Fuller (F 45-49) plus a Bronze to Penny Wylie (F 40-44).
