Dibens wins in Lanzarote

The Lanzarote International Duathlon took place at the weekend with more than a smattering of GB athletes in the field. Top of the list was Julie Dibens who polished off the opposition finishing ahead of Yvonne van Vlekken (NED) and Mieke Depoortere (BEL) while Leanne Hyams (5th), Lee Avery (7th) and Anna Johnson (14th) split up the rest of the predominantly Danish and Spanish field. In the mens race it was a trio of Belgians taking the honours with Joerie Vansteelant winning ahead of Bart Aernouts and Jurgen Dereere. British and Irish interest was satisfied by Harry Wiltshire (8th), Mark Whittaker (9th) Aaron Harris (11th), Nicholas Muñoz (12th), Mark Threlfall (13th), Matthew Wilson (15th), Alan Maye (19th), Paul Wilson (26th), Ed Connor (34th), Paul Rodbourn (39th), Paul Fairhurst (49th), Paddy Farrell (63rd), Eddie Lynch (78th) and Michael Boothman (95th).
