Dave Aitchison, winner of British Triathlon’s Male Age Group Triathlete of the Year for 2006, died in his sleep on Tuesday night. We don't have any details at this stage but the loss to his family and friends at Ful-On Tri can only be heightened by the fact that during last year he not only picked up the BTA award but Ful-On Tri’s Male Triathlete of the Year, and had overall race wins at London Triathlon, London Duathlon and Eton Sprint. Dave also finished 3rd at the World Age Group Championships in Lausanne picking up the bronze medal.

UPDATE: Ful-On Tri will be starting their Saturday club ride tomorrow (January 27th) with a single loop of Richmond Park to remember Dave. They will meet at 8.45am at the Roehampton Gate car park, aiming for a 9am start. The intention is that this is a celebration and not a wake - Dave enjoyed life and the club hope that the ride will reflect that. They suggest that you wear suitably terrible cycle jerseys (something of a trademark for him) and share any funny stories.

The club has also opened an online book of condolence on their website: www.fulontri.com Our sincere condolences go to his family, girlfriend and clubmates.
