The FTSE-100 British Olympic Association Partnership initiative being launched today has been greeted with enthusiasm by both British Triathlon and Corus, the sport’s business partner.

Attending the launch today, at the London Stock Exchange, Norman Brook, CEO of the British Triathlon Federation commented: “The partnership between Corus and British Triathlon has enabled us to develop our management structure whilst undergoing modernisation and developing Home Nation Member Associations. The input from Corus has been invaluable in helping to set out new policies with regard to health and safety and human resources, and we look forward to further developing our relationship with them in the coming years.”

Scott MacDonald, Executive Director, Corus said: “We are pleased to be involved in the British Olympic Association Partnership initiative. It is a natural extension of our existing sponsorship programme with British Triathlon and will bring benefits to both organisations. Sport and business have a lot to learn from each other – the dedication, commitment and passion that athletes possess are an inspiration to us all and is why we want to bring sport to the heart of how our (Corus) employees think about their own health and wellbeing. This partnership further demonstrates Corus’ commitment to sport.”

British Triathlon’s partnership with Corus is firmly established with a number of activities already in progress. In a recent visit to Beijing the British Triathlon team were welcomed and supported by employees from Corus’ Beijing office. The provision of translation, transport and cultural insight enabled the team to focus on the job of race preparation.

Corus has been able to support British Triathlon through their modernisation process. By providing advice and support on management structures and policy, the British Triathlon Federation has come through the transition and now has three membership organisations: Triathlon England, triathlonscotland and Welsh Triathlon.

Health and safety is paramount to Corus’ business and British Triathlon has been able to access this capability and benefited from expert advice on developing a robust health and safety policy. British Triathlon has also benefited from the advice of Corus’ experienced Human Resources Team.

The Corus and British Triathlon partnership will soon launch The Corus Triathlon Challenge. This event will bring together governing bodies and their partners as well as leaders of sport and industry for a day of triathlon racing and networking. The event is to be hosted by Corus at the Eton Dorney Lake, Eton on the 27th June 2007 and will raise money to support young sporting talent.
