![]() Endurancelife Coast to Coast becomes National series Posted on: Friday 16th March 2007 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend The original endurancelife Coast to Coast took place in 2004 in Devon. 60 intrepid participants took part in that first year, but since then the event has grown rapidly in popularity and reputation. Last year the event was massively over-subscribed with places limited to 150. In order to satisfy demand endurancelife have developed the concept into a National Series which has been snapped up by Lafuma as the title sponsor. The original Devon event will take place on the weekend of May 19th, with a Scottish and Welsh version taking place on the weekends of July 14th and September 22nd respectively. The Coast to Coast events consist of mixed terrain, running, cycling and kayaking over two days, in a point to point format. Mileages and break down of activities varies to suit the topology of each course. The Devon event is as follows: Day 1; run 7 miles, ride 65 miles, run 7 miles then Day 2; ride 20 miles, kayak 9 miles, run 19 miles giving a total of 127 miles. All the courses are uncontrived journeys from one amazing coastal landscape to another. The events are supported by a dedicated crew, and can be characterised as being tough but achievable, friendly, rewarding and annoyingly addictive. To finish a Coast to Coast is an achievement in itself and for most this will be the main aim. One of the many charms of the Coast to Coast is the wide variety of people that take part, from hardened triathletes, fell runners and adventure racers to weekend warriors and relative newcomers to endurance sport. Those wishing to take part are urged to book a place now to avoid disappointment. There are two categories; solo or pairs.
