XTERRA UK training camp Posted on: Monday 25th June 2007 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend Ever thought of doing an XTERRA event, or a similar off-road triathlon, but don’t have the confidence? Or perhaps you’re a seasoned racer who wants to gain the advantage at this years XTERRA UK. Well, the XTERRA training camp to be held in Afan, Wales on August 11th and 12th could be the answer. In preparation for XTERRA UK on the 16th of September, Driven to Tri coach and double XTERRA winner, Julie Dibens, has teamed up with World Cup mountain biker and top XTERRA athlete, Sam Gardner, to offer a jam-packed weekend including a unique chance to check out the race course under expert tuition. On the Saturday attendees can choose from a pool-based off road sprint distance triathlon for beginners over 300m / 15km / 3km or a longer race over 600m / 20km / 5km. Coaches will be on hand to help you prepare for the race and offer tips and pre-race advice. You will also be videoed during the race in all three disciplines which will be analysed by our experts, this will give you the chance to see your faults and hopefully learn how to correct them. All this great advice can be put to use in Sunday's open water training session in the actual XTERRA race lake and a bike session around the official XTERRA bike course. There is an optional shorter bike route for total beginners. The weekend is designed to offer a fun and relaxed opportunity for you to take a look at the XTERRA course. A large number of coaches and split sessions mean that we can give you individual attention whether you’re an absolute off-road beginner or a seasoned racer. The weekend provides great value for money and would be ideal for club groups or individuals. Accommodation will be available at the Dulwich Field centre in Glyntawe. The Centre is cheerful but basic and we can recommend a number of B&Bs in the area should you also wish to stay on the Friday night. The cost for the weekend is £130 including entry to the Afan Park off-road triathlon, accommodation for the Saturday night, and lunch and breakfast on the Sunday. There are a limited number of spots, register your interest through the DrivenToTri website: www.driventotri.com ![]()
