According to a report on the Ironman website, Ironman China Ltd (a Hong Kong-based corporation licensed by the WTC) will stage the country's first official Ironman race on April 20th, 2008 in Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Province.

The course will comprise a sea swim, a two-lap bike course and a flat run (barring two bridge crossings). Hainan is a tropical island located in the South China Sea about an hour by air from Hong Kong. The event website (www.ironmanchina.com) will begin accepting registrations on August 3rd.
