Following Norman Brook’s announcement that he would be leaving British Triathlon as their Chief Executive Officer at the end of 2007 to move to South Africa, the Federation have started the process of finding and appointing a successor as quickly as is practical at this critical period in the current Olympic cycle.

Brook took up the position of Chief Executive in 2000, just as triathlon was making its debut as an Olympic sport, and is credited with leading the sport’s growth over the last seven years. Great Britain has become established as one of the world’s leading triathlon nations and the sport has become a highly successful mass participation activity.

The BTF is fully committed to leveraging the outstanding opportunities for sport in Great Britain over the next five years, by building brand equity, maximising public investment through World-Class and Grass Roots initiatives and additional multiple strands of support, while increasing income from commercial sponsors. To help achieve these aims, the BTF is looking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation and work with the BTF Board, and that of Triathlon England, to shape the future strategic direction.

The principal accountabilities will be to manage the organisation, which has approximately 45 employees and a turnover of £3 million whilst ensuring that the strategic relationships with sponsors and external bodies, such as UK Sport, Sport England and the British Olympic Association are maintained. The BTF President, Dr Sarah Springman OBE commented: “We acknowledge, with much gratitude, the immense contribution made by Norman and are sad that he is moving on. Nonetheless, we accept that this is also an opportunity for the organisation as well and will leave no stone unturned to find the right person to take us to even higher levels, in all our activities, as our country moves towards the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of hosting the Olympic Games in London in 2012.”

Further job specifications can be found on the BTF website: www.britishtriathlon.org
