Marks and Spencers boss tackles the UK in aid of Oxfordshire Hospice Posted on: Thursday 17th July 2008 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend On Thursday Neil Jordan paddled his kayak around the point of Lands End and in doing so completed his epic ‘Ride, Stride and Glide’ Lands End to John O’Groats challenge in aid of the Sobell House Hospice Charity and Cancer Research UK. The Ride, Stride and Glide took Neil from John O’Groats to Lands End by foot, cycle and kayak and included climbs of Ben Nevis, Snowdon, Scafell Pike and crossings of the West Highland Way, Penine Way, Caledonian Canal, River Severn and finally round ing the point of Lands End. The entire journey took the best part of two and a half months to complete and In doing so Neil hopes to have raised around £30,000 for the two charities. Neil Said:- “this challenge has allowed me to pass my time and find some focus since my wife, Linda’s, death at Sobell House, over a year ago and I hope it will serve as a fitting tribute to her memory.” Neil will be joined by members of his family travelling from as far afield as Canada on the 26th July to re-walk the final stretch of the journey back to Lands End to officially end the Ride Stride and Glide! Sobell House fundraiser, Kevin Game said: “Neil and his family have done a remarkable job, not just in completing the journey and in raising such a fantastic amount for his charities, but also for managing the logistics of such a massive undertaking, and for that we’d like to thank everyone involved with the Ride, Stride and Glide.” If you would like more information on the event contact Neil himself on 07813704798 or Kath Morris on 01865 857008, or email mail@sobellhospice.org |
