The Longest Day – to be or not to be?

The 13th staging and last Longest Day iron-distance event was held two years ago in 2006, it was thought it would be the final one...! However, it appears that this may not be the case, as former race director Martin Dodds, is thinking of staging the TLD one more time in 2009. Tri247's columnist Bob Holloway, is a big fan, and in his latest column describes it as, "a race without any bells or whistles, fancy goodie bags full of sponsor's wares, or credit card hungry entry fees. Just honest to goodness racing with all the basics just spot on and a hard core fan base who would return year on year to do battle in the waters, roads and disused rail tracks in the Midlands."

At the moment Martin Dodds isn't prepared to make any promises about the prospects of TLD 2009, but Bob believes that registering your interest, either as a volunteer or as an entrant, should certainly help to sway his decision. To find out more read Bob's column here.
