Organisers of The Brighton Triathlon have swam, biked and ran a £1,000 cheque to the Rockinghorse charity in Brighton. The event is organised by Sussex based firm Urbanrace. Three of the organisers for next month’s race were testing areas of the event course and used the opportunity to deliver the money to the Brighton based charity. Urbanrace raised the money as part of donations from participants when they entered the race online. The money will help the specialist children’s hospital services in Sussex.

Angela Purser is the Finance Manager at Rockinghorse and was pleased to receive the money from Urbanrace. She said: "I’m really looking forward to seeing the athletes in September, my husband is among them. All of them in wet suits on Brighton beach will be an amazing spectacle. It’s great that so many of them have also been fundraising for Rockinghorse. Urbanrace’s contribution will really help make life better for local children in hospital."

The triathlon has sold out already and is one of the biggest sea based triathlons in the country. 750 athletes will swim, cycle and run over various distances in the endurance challenge in one of the busiest parts of Brighton.

Dan James is the Brighton Triathlon Event Director, he said: "Rockinghorse is such a fantastic cause and the whole team is pleased as punch that revenue generated from the event is going straight back into the local community. It just shows a small gift from the majority of athletes can go a long way and make a difference."
