Chris Grundberg from Accelerace (www.accelerace.co.uk), contacted us with news from the Accelerace Extreme Tri this weekend in beautiful Dartmoor.

The conditions for the Extreme Tri (Half-iron distance: 1.2 mile sea-swim, 56 mile bike across Dartmoor, 14.5 mile cross-country run over the moor), were pretty favourable, despite some rain during the swim. David Bettinson led from the off, and despite Vaughan Lindsay completing a slightly faster run leg, he wasn't able to catch up with the Cambridge triathlete after he set a blistering bike course record of 2:57:25.

The ladies race was won by Sarah Danning, who battled with Julie Lewis throughout the bike leg, and overcame this stiff competition, and mechanical issues, to win in 8:53:12.

The whole field is to be congratulated for completing what is an extremely tough half iron-man - perhaps the toughest in the UK? Full results, photos, video and race reports available at www.accelerace.co.uk.
