![]() No room in Sevenoaks! Posted on: Tuesday 23rd December 2008 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend Only seven weeks after entries opened, the Sevenoaks Sprint Triathlon to be held on Sunday 19th April 2009 is full. Club Chairman Gez Morgan commented "I am amazed with the speed that our race has filled up. This not only reflects the increasing popularity of triathlon but also that 7Oaks Tri Club deliver well organised and popular races." Race Director Simon McLaughlin reminded athletes "the planning for the April race started the week after our last event. We are determined that regular competitors will rank our event alongside or better than many other triathlons and hope that first timers will have excellent memories of their induction into the sport." Despite the race being full, 7Oaks Tri Club have donated a number of entry slots so that athletes who wish to raise money for the chosen charity, Demelza House (www.demelzahouse.org) can do so. Laura Carey, Demelza House's Area Fundraising Manager said "On behalf of the children and families I would like to thank the organisers of the Sevenoaks Sprint Triathlon for choosing to support Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Demelza currently looks after over 560 children throughout Kent, East Sussex and South London and offer planned short breaks, community care, end of life care and bereavement support. We receive very little government funding and rely on the local community for their donations and fundraising efforts. We are so grateful for the support and appreciate all the hard work from everyone who supports us." Details of this are on the 7Oaks Tri Club website www.7oakstriclub.co.uk. There will also be a limited waitlist kept in case of competitors dropping out of the event in advance - athletes who want to add themselves to the waitlist should email their details to race@7oakstriclub.co.uk. For athletes who wish to compete in future events, the next Sevenoaks Sprint Triathlon will be held on Sunday 20th September 2009. Entries will open in May 2009. 7Oaks Tri Club welcomes members of all abilities and experience. Details are available at www.7oakstriclub.co.uk. ![]()
