At the Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa, home favourite Raynard Tissink repeated his 2008 win finishing two minutes up on Scotland's Fraser Cartmell. Tim Don, in his first 70.3 event finished fourth after the fastest run of the day, but that wasn't enough to make up for the nine+ minutes lost on the bike to the leading trio. He finished in 4:12:50.

Lucie Zelenkova, the Czech athlete who now resides in South Africa was a clear winner in the ladies event.
