The summer sun shone and the M-shaped swim course made great viewing for the spectators; although conditions were a bit windy for the exposed fenland bike course. In the ladies race, Tamsyn Clarke (Age 30-35, Tri Force Club) was first out of the swim in a time of 23.38 minutes (the 4th fastest swim time of the day). She held the lead off the bike posting the fastest female bike split of the day (1.10.34). However, this margin was not enough to hold off Ruth Burnett (Age 30-35, unattached) who took 3 minutes off Clark in the 10k run with a time of 43.56minutes; making her the first lady home in an overall time of 2.20.35. Clark was second in 2.21.08 and Christine Lutch (Age 25-30, Serpentine Club) was third in a time of 2.24.57. First across the line for the men was Mark Yeoman (Age 35-40, Sigma Sport Club) in a time of 2.05.29, having posted the second fastest swim and bike times (22.11 minutes and 1.02.28 respectively) and 7th fastest run (40.50 minutes). Second male finisher was local youngster Jack Peasgood (Junior 19 Age Group, Walden Tri) in a time of 2.07.57 (with split times of 23.03, 1.04.18 and 40.36) and third was Johnny Stephens (45-50, Worcester Tri club) who secured the fastest swim time of the day 21.43 minutes and an overall time of 2.09.20. The fastest bike split of the day was Ben Mickleburgh in 1.02.02 (Age 35-40, unattached) and the fastest run, a blistering 37.44 minutes posted by David Freeman (Age 40-45, SLH Tri Club). The Race was the 5th in the new Eastern Regional Series; the next two are North Norfolk and Clacton, both in September. ![]() 0 comments | Post a comment |
