Britain's Jodie Swallow continued the fantastic run of GB female success at the ITU World Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Perth, Australia today with a totally dominant 11 minute victory.

Exiting the water first, she then recorded the fastest 80km cycle and 20km run to take her first senior world title. Home favourite Rebekah Keat was a distant second, ahead of Delphine Pelletier (FRA) for the bronze.

Swallow had shown promise over the longer distances - winning her first Ironman 70.3 event in Singapore earlier in the season - and we assume she will now be looking to add the Ironman 70.3 World Championship crown in Clearwater, Florida in two weeks time. On this sort of form, she must be a real contender for that, in what we would forecast may well be an even more competitve race.

That's now four consecutive GB wins, through Bella Bayliss (2006), Leanda Cave (2007), Chrissie Wellington (2008) and now Jodie.

Now, with Julie Dibens to follow later on today in Maui, will we get two British World Champs on one day?!

As we sort of suspected, Ironman Champion Craig Alexander was a non-starter after his efforts in Kona two weeks ago, and it was American Timothy O'Donnell - who had beaten Alexander's course record in the St Croix 70.3 - who took the title, ahead of Sylvain Sudrie (FRA) and Martin Jensen (DEN).
