British Triathlon has today been recognised alongside other Governing Bodies such as the Premier League and the England & Wales Cricket Board by being nominated by the Sports Industry Group in the Sports Industry Awards 2010.

After a steering committee process involving over 60 key industry figures and 50 hours of intensive judging, the list of nominees represents the very best that the sports business industry had to offer over the course of 2009. With a substantial year-on-year increase in entries for the Sport Industry Awards, reaching the shortlist represents a stellar achievement.

The nominees listed will now go forward to the main judging panel, headed by Chairman and BBC broadcaster John Inverdale, who will decide the winners in each of the 14 award categories. The results will be announced at the star-studded awards ceremony on 13th May at Battersea Evolution in front of 1,400 industry representatives.

2009 was one of the most successful in the history of British Triathlon, in all age groups and across all disciplines, as reflected by our Gold, Silver and Bronze rush summary, published last year. In Alistair Brownlee and Chrissie Wellington, Britain can perhaps claim the two most dominant triathletes in the world during 2009.
