OWS Aquathlon report & video Posted on: Saturday 8th May 2010 Bookmark This | Print This Page | Send To A Friend | Post A Comment Race organiser Paula Stannard reports from Liquid Leisure, Datchet on the first OWS Aquathlon of the season which took place this morning. OpenWaterSwim.co.uk's first Aquathlon race saw a great turnout despite the cold and wet weather, showing just how dedicated people can be. Jonathan Hotchkiss of Pure Tri who had a great run after, "the slowest transition ever" won the race in a time of 27:03 followed by a sun kissed Ferginator after having just arrived back from an Army training camp in Cyprus, his time was 27:50 with third place going to Peter Wilby in a time of 28.21. The ladies reigning champion Carin Hume took first place yet again in a time of 32:46 followed by an ever pursuing Carly Bland in a time of 34:33 and Karen Roake (who almost didn't enter) came third in a time of 35:06 (bet she's glad she did now). The top three placings overall and first place in 40+ 50+ and 60+ all receive vouchers for 2XU kit. As always we had a very diverse bunch of racers from the elite to the complete novice and of all ages giving everyone a chance to race. Thank you to our sponsors, Powerbar, VitaminWater and esendex. A race video will be on the wesbite shortly. Thank you to all those who took part and all those who help make the race an enjoyable one. See you on the 22nd May for the next one.
