Over the coming weeks we'll be bringing you all of the latest news on the show including previews of many of the exhibitors and details of all of the features and events which will be taking place, all within our dedicated show section.

Here is the latest news on the show.

The hugely popular Triathlon Show (formerly TCR) will take place on 2nd to 4th March 2012 at Sandown Park, Esher. The leading multi-sport show, targeted specifically to the triathlete, is ten years' old this year and attracts amateur, professional and celebrity triathletes in the masses. This year, with over 150 represented brands and exhibitors, the show is a must for all with an interest in triathlon. It will feature informative seminars, from Q&As with Chrissie Wellington, to bike set-up, to cracking your run PB. There's also an array of events, including an Evans Sportive and the Saucony 10k run.

There will be a host of top sporting names present at the show, including four-time Ironman World Champion and record holder, Chrissie Wellington, Hywel Davies and Rick Kiddle. Show-goers will have the chance to get first-hand top tips and an insight into what it takes to reach the top of the game. Chrissie Wellington will be there with signed copies of her upcoming book, ‘A Life without Limits'. The signed copies can be pre-ordered by purchasing an event ticket in advance. She'll be holding two Q&A sessions in the 220 Triathlon Magazine Theatre. The triathlon elites will also be participating in the various challenges and races over the weekend.

Included in the weekend's schedule is the Zoggs SwimZone, where top coaches and athletes will be providing demonstrations of swim technique and stroke efficiency. Guests can also compete on a virtual 5k bike course in the Powerbar Indoor Time Trial, or relax at The Fit Brands Fashion Show, where professional triathlete models will be launching the new lines of innovative brands. The Saucony 10k run will allow visitors to race around the famous Sandown grounds and The Soleus Perfect Pace Challenge is there to test participants pace judgement. Evans is also running a sportive on Saturday and Sunday, taking riders over some of the Olympic Time Trial and Road Race route. There are many prizes up for grabs for visitors.

Surrey's Human Performance Institute is holding two hour consultation sessions, booked in advance, which can focus on areas such as VO2max testing, anaerobic testing, nutrition and diet and training advice.

David Townsend, founder of The Triathlon Show says: "Triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and you certainly get that feeling at the show. It's always a sell-out and we've made sure that everything going on is targeted absolutely with the triathlete in mind. With more than 850 triathlons in the UK, there's no sign of interest dying down. In 2010, there were more than 130,000 instances of athletes donning their wetsuits and heading for start-lines up and down the country[i]."

There is also a Triathlon Club Village where local triathlon clubs can meet, socialise and showcase their offerings to potential new members.

Advance weekend tickets are now on sale at £9 for adults. On the door, the ticket price is £12. Under-16s go free if accompanied by a paying adult. There is free car and secure cycle parking at Sandown Park and a regular shuttle bus will run from Esher Station to the venue. The show opening times are as follows:

We first heard about Tri-topia at the show two years ago when we met owners Lee and Sam, and shortly after that we sent top Age Group athlete John Franklin off to review it for us, who came back singing its praises - and has been back under his own steam several times since.
Olly from Tri-topia joined me on the Tri247 sofa to talk more about what Tri-topia has to offer.

The first video we bring you from the show is our chat with three-time Ironman World Champion and Ironman world record holder, Chrissie Wellington. Chrissie was in huge demand throughout the day on Saturday, meeting her hundreds of fans, signing autographs, having her photograph taken, answering questions in the seminar sessions and generally continuing to be an incredible ambassador for the sport of triathlon.
We grabbed a few minutes with Chrissie towards the end of a very long day on the stand of Cytosport (www.cytosport.co.uk), Chrissie's nutritional sponsor.

It's the fourth win for the Helix in five years, making it by far the most favoured wetsuit by triathletes. Dean Jackson, Global Sales and Marketing Manager at blueseventy, commented; “we're delighted to accept this award, which continues to endorse our status as the world leader in triathlon and open water wetsuits. The award means so much more to the company because the people who matter most – the athletes, voted for us. We're always focused on continuing to develop, refine and test our suits to ensure we can offer the most advanced wetsuit technology on the market, and this award validates the hard work the team put in to this process”.
Far from resting on the success of the Helix, blueseventy have continued to evolve the wetsuit market. They released the new range of Balanced Buoyancy suits in 2010 – it is the first range of wetsuits developed to match suit buoyancy with the specific biomechanical needs of the athlete. The range has been a great success with triathletes, particularly those not from a strong swimming background.
blueseventy shared more success than just winning the Best Wetsuit Award – they were also proud to be associated with a number of other award winners on the night including blueseventy athletes Alistair Brownlee (Best Men's Elite Athlete), Cat Morrison (Best Women's Duathlete) and Lou Collins (Best Female Age Grouper), as well as Best Retail Store TFN, Best Online retailer Wiggle.co.uk, and Best Website Tri247.

220 Awards 2011

http://www.tri247.com/article_8176.html

The seventh annual 220 Triathlon Awards, in association with Maxifuel nutrition, for 2011 were handed out at the awards dinner at ther TCR Show last night and this is how the voting went:

Neovite Race Team launch at TCR 2011

http://www.tri247.com/article_8160.html

At this year's TCR Show at Sandown Park, natural dairy colostrum Neovite, are announcing plans to sponsor TT Race Team competitors, elite triathlon veteran and BTF coach Phil Jarvis and training and club partner Mark Lloyd. Phil will be officially launching the new Team Neovite TT Race kit at the TCR Show, on the Neovite stand (No. Q8) Saturday 12th February.

Phil, who has represented his country at both triathlon and duathlon since 2004 comments: “I first approached Neovite 5 years ago. I was 6 months into a training program trying to qualify for the Great Britain Age Group Triathlon team. Having previously qualified for the 2004 World Duathlon Championships in Geel, Belgium, I found myself in a fairly run down state and was suffering from IBS that was starting to get me down.”

Phil first started taking Neovite on a regular basis during training for qualification for the 2007 World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Hamburg, Germany. Here Phil successfully qualified and finished 22nd in his 40-44 year old age group at the Championships.
Phil goes on to say: “I was starting to really look into natural products that could aid recovery from heavy bouts of training and could perhaps enhance my depressed immune system. I really liked what was being said on the Neovite web-site and it struck a chord with me as it seemed to cover all my problem bases! Neovite has now maintained my health throughout the last 5 years as I have been sponsored by Neovite. The product has helped to develop lean muscle mass whilst I have been steadily reducing my weight over that time. My immune system has remained strong and best of all I have lost the IBS problems I used to have as well.”
Since 2004, Phil has become a British Triathlon Federation Qualified Triathlon Coach and spent time between the UK and Tri-topia Triathlon Training camps in France coaching athletes of all abilities. Over the last 2 years Phil has switched his main focus to Cycling Time Trialling and has become pretty successful, having been Colchester Rovers 2009 Time Trialling Champion and has regularly finished in the top 15 riders in Eastern Region Time Trials across distances from 10miles to 100miles.
Phil was just outside the top 100 in the National 25 Mile Time Trial Championships last year and his current personal bests at 46 years of age set last year are 10 mile TT : 20mins 42s, 25 mile TT : 54mins:56s and 50 mile TT: 1hour 54mins and 9seconds.
The Neovite TT Race Team aims to promote the health benefit of Neovite for elite and amateur athletes and in particular stress the digestive, respiratory and performance benefits for competitors in endurance sports such as cycling and triathlon. Phil's TT Race Team partner is also his training and fellow club member Mark Lloyd, aged 39. Mark had a fantastic breakthrough season last year where he finished 9th in The Eastern Region SPOCCO time trial series as well as taking the Colchester Rovers Club Championship off Phil! He produced personal bests all season over 10/25/50 mile TT's.

Chrissie and Dave...

http://www.tri247.com/article_6616.html

John's been hassling me to get my column updated; where does life go to? How do we fit all the normal stuff into every day and then still make time for blogs, articles, coaching, real life stuff. I guess we all do, because we're triathletes and we're used to juggling stuff all the time so we do fit it in, and we do get it all done.
One thing I did make time for was the TCR Show. Ok, I was there to talk about novice triathlons but there just a few (yeah, like about 100) interesting speakers, even more interesting than me in fact. A certain Miss Chrissie Wellington, a certain Mr Dave Scott.
Now I wrote an article a few months back about the twenty top triathletes over the last twenty years. In many ways, it was unfair on Chrissie and unfair on Dave... because Chrissie had just broken through (and how!) and the last twenty years cuts out the biggest part of Dave Scott's triathlon career, although not his comeback in 1994 when he narrowly lost to Greg Welch in Hawaii.
So let's just examine exactly how great - not an exaggeration, certainly not - these two are. Dave Scott totally dominated Hawaii through the 80s; he didn't win every time out... only six! Think about that, to qualify for Hawaii is tough, to qualify as a pro is tougher, to make top ten, oh my God! To win Hawaii... can you imagine... to win SIX times! Legend, true legend. But when Dave spoke, he said "I guess the one race I'm really remembered for is 1989... when I lost to Mark Allen". How tough is that? Win six times and be remembered for the one you lost. Or maybe even the two, in 1994 to Greg... when Dave was in his forties! Not true of course. Dave Scott will always be remembered for being one of the absolute greats, if not the greatest, Ironman athletes of all time.
And then you move onto Chrissie... not a bad little career there eh? Win at Lausanne as an age grouper (fastest age grouper in the field, not just her own age group). Turn pro... and win Hawaii after an embarrassingly short while. First win in Hawaii. A huge surprise to almost everyone, (although maybe not Chrissie and her coach). That amazing mental attitude that she and Dave have, the attitude of "I can do anything, absolutely anything". The second win... not a surprise, everyone in the triathlon world was calling it as a banker. But the way Chrissie did it was amazing. Have a puncture, lose 15 minutes by the side of the road - and can you imaging the mental torment that went along with that - get an air can from the totally, totally selfless Rebekah Keat, and then win comfortably. And the third win, this one after breaking the iron-distance world record in Europe, break Paula's record in Hawaii. Some race, some athlete, some individual.
What came across from both the Champs was the importance of a positive mental attitude; what came across from both was the importance of quality in training. Two things common to both, the mark of a champion.
I am reminded of a story that I read some looooooong time ago...
It is in the future, a long time in the future, and another fantastic Ironman champion, Scott Tinley, is standing at the pearly gates waiting to enter. St Peter approaches him, takes his name, does all the checking and confirms that, yes, Scott Tinley may enter heaven.
"But what's it like?" says the suspicious Tinley.
"Heaven is fantastic", comes back St Peter, "you can do whatever you want here, you can make anything come true".
Tinley: "Do you have Ironman here?"
 St Peter: "Of course"
"And you say that I can do anything? Can you guarantee that Dave Scott won't beat me?"
St Peter: "Consider it done, Dave Scott will NOT beat you"
Ironman race day duly arrives in heaven, Tinley is flying, the swim goes well, the bike a dream, the run totally without sore legs, the finish line beckons... The title is Tinley's!
And then, as so many times in the past, that familiar figure, the characteristic rolling gait of the run, the flowing hair and moustache... Dave Scott runs past to beat him on the line.
Tinley is distraught, and St Peter wanders over...
"You promised me! You promised me that Dave Scott wouldn't beat me!"
"St Peter, "Oh that wasn't Dave Scott, that was God. He just thinks he's Dave Scott..."

Tri247 (Triathlon Website of the Year) and 7Oaks Tri Club (Race of the Year <500 entrants) offered an array of prizes in conjunction with seven of the Sevenoaks Triathlon sponsors.
As one of only two triathlon clubs exhibiting at the show, 7Oaks Tri Club (www.7oakstriclub.co.uk) ensured that their aim to spread the word about their club, their races and their sponsors was continued. Their stand was suitably busy all weekend and an often asked question was “when are entries opening for your next race and how can I ensure that I get in before it closes?”
The winners of the competition have all been contacted and their prizes will be dispatched to them very soon.
