Congratulations Jon Zigmond: ERDINGER Athlete of the Year for 2016
A few weeks ago we introduced a new award from Tri247, the ERDINGER Athlete of the Year.
The winners was selected by you, the readers of Tri247, from the shortlist of our 10 winners of the ERDINGER Athlete of the Month award during the calendar year of 2016.
With ten great choices on offer, we were always going to end up with a worthy winner.
However, there can only be one first place and – gaining 36% of the votes cast – you have selected JON ZIGMOND at the ERDINGER Athlete of the Year for 2016.
The selections for the ERDINGER Athlete of the Month awards have included a wide range of winners, from the absolute fastest athletes at championship events, age-group excellence and those who have overcome and succeeded despite some incredible obstacles put it their way.
Jon earned your recognition as – along with his carbon fibre heart valve – he completed the Outlaw long distance triathlon following open heart surgery in 2014 which included the fitting of a pacemaker.
Now over 65, Jon’s story is an inspiration – and he raised over £8,500 for the South Tees Hospitals Charity in the process.
You can revisit Jon’s Athlete of the Month award from July 2016 HERE.
Congratulations Jon, we’ll be in touch very soon about your prize!
