A Norwegian double at the top of the legendary Gaustatoppen

Third for Great Britain’s Flora Colledge, sixth for Harry Wiltshire

The Norseman. It’s an iron-distance triathlon in Norway. As descriptions go, that’s about as close to useless as it is possible to get to give a true impression of the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon (www.nxtri.com)! Norseman is the original ‘Xtreme’ triathlon, the iconic event to which all others look towards and from which the idea of the XTRI World Tour (www.xtriworldtour.com) developed, including the likes of Celtman, Swissman and new events such as Patagonman and Hispaman.

If ever a race is best described through images, well, the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is probably it. Regular TRI247 contributor José Luis Hourcade (www.joseluishourcade.com) was back in Norway (having recently also provided this awesome gallery from IRONMAN Haugesund), and once again his lens has been working its magic. Enjoy the gallery below.

Great Britain’s Flora Colledge finished third in the women’s event this year (and was inside the previous course record too), with the win going to home athlete Mette Pettersen Moe (NOR).

Colledge is a real talent and a prolific racer, having also won the Swissman Xtreme Triathlon in June, ETU Powerman Middle Distance Duathlon Age-Group Gold earlier this year, the same at the Zofingen ITU Powerman World Champs last year, plus more Age-Group Gold at the ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Denmark. I’m not 100%, but I think that might perhaps be the first ever ‘top three’ finish for a British athlete at the Norseman?

After recent wins at the Celtman Extreme Triathlon and the Long Course Weekend in Tenby, Harry Wiltshire produced a strong debut in Norway to finish sixth.
