A second UK virtual course as Yorkshire joins London on Zwift

Next month the UCI Road World Championships comes to Harrogate in Yorkshire – and thanks to an Official Supplier partnership with Zwift, you’ll be able to ride it virtually, thanks to the upcoming addition of the Harrogate finishing circuit to the online training platform in early September.

Zwift will also have a presence in Harrogate during the event – Zwift Draft House – which you’ll be able to visit, grab a coffee and some food, trial Zwift and much more. Here is the full announcement.

ZWIFT CONFIRMED AS OFFICIAL SUPPLIER TO UCI 2019 ROAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN YORKSHIRE

Zwift to launch Official UCI Road World Championships Virtual Course in September

Zwift, the global online training and racing platform for athletes has today been confirmed as an Official Supplier to the UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire, continuing a long history of partnerships. The deal will see Zwift launch the Official virtual UCI Road World Championships course with a replica of the Harrogate finishing circuit, in early September.

“It’s fantastic to have Zwift return as an Official Supplier.” Says David Lappartient, President of the UCI. “Zwift is an exciting new product in our space. It’s fantastic to see how they are able to bring people from all over the world closer to the championships in an entirely virtual way. Not only that, but their course will provide an opportunity for competing riders to familiarise themselves with what looks to be a very selective finishing circuit this year.”

“I’m delighted to be continuing our long-standing history with the UCI Road World Championships,” adds Eric Min, Zwift CEO and Co-Founder. “Ours is a history that dates back to the Richmond in 2015 – a course that still produces some of the most exciting racing on Zwift. Like we have done with Richmond and Innsbruck-Tirol, we hope to bring more people closer to the action by being able to experience the Yorkshire course from the comfort of their own home. For those closer to the action, I hope to see many at our Zwift Draft House.”

Zwift will be taking over Cold Bath Brewery in the centre of Harrogate from September 22nd-29th. The Zwift Draft House is designed to be a great hangout for fans and pro cyclists alike, to grab a cup of Colonna Coffee, refuel with some food, or try one of four Zwift x Cold Bath Brewery collaborative craft beers.

The Zwift Draft House will also play host to a number of activities during the week of the championships. Daily ride outs will start from here and head into the Yorkshire countryside, led by UK specialist cycle retailer, Sigma Sports. Riders will be able to benefit from free bike parking at the venue and a bike clean, courtesy of Muc-Off.

It wouldn’t be Zwift without some virtual riding, so visitors will be able to trial the Zwift platform and a number of different home trainers, in Zwift’s experience centre downstairs. Head to the second floor and this is where the action will happen each evening, with esports races and one-off exhibition races including a Yorkshire legends race.

Zwift will operate its first pop up store from within the Zwift Draft House, providing Zwift Fans an opportunity to try on, and purchase Zwift fan apparel and merchandise.
