Lucy Gossage renews blueseventy partnership

Multiple Ironman Champion, Lucy Gossage, will be wearing blueseventy again this season after renewing her long-term partnership with the wetsuit and swimskin specialists. She plans to take on the UK based Ironman events as well as Ironman Lanzarote this season.

After two top ten finishes in Kona, Lucy has proven herself as one of the world’s best long-distance athletes. This year she has returned to her job as an oncology doctor in Nottingham. The focused training around part-time working has already paid off with a life time best half marathon performance at the recent Cambridge Half Marathon.

Lucy said: “Swimming isn’t necessarily my strongest discipline, so it’s really important that I have great swimming products that I have confidence in. Having a really good wetsuit makes a big difference and having worn the helix through all of my most successful races, I’m really happy to continue my link with blueseventy.”

Ironman Lanzarote on 20 May will present the first big test this year. The Island is known for its high winds, heat and volcanic mountains. The course rewards strong cyclists, something which Lucy certainly is, having set the fourth fastest bike split in Kona in October. She previously won in Lanzarote in 2014.

Ironman Lanzarote involves a sea swim, which is nearly always calm for the early-morning start, but the Canary Islands location in the Atlantic Ocean, 80 miles off the coast of Africa can mean that storms and swells affect the conditions.

Lucy added: “All of the key races I have planned this season have wetsuit swims, so it was important for me to be wearing a suit I’m happy with.”

Blueseventy will provide Lucy with wetsuits, swimskins, training swimwear, goggles, and thermal accessories. To find out more about the product range, visit www.blueseventy.co.uk.
