If you want fast roads, warm sunshine and a front-row seat to the future of professional triathlon, Qatar T100 deserves a prime spot in your race plans. See you on the start line.
Why Race Qatar T100?
While many triathletes default to Mallorca or the Canaries for winter training and racing, Qatar offers something refreshingly different: ultra-modern infrastructure, world-class sporting facilities and a fast, spectator-friendly course set against a backdrop of futuristic architecture and Arabian Gulf coastline.
The event is centred around Lusail Marina, just north of Doha, with racing unfolding in calm, clear waters and on closed roads. It’s a rare chance to finish your season with a PB – and then watch the world’s best battle for the T100 crown (both pro and age-group) on the very same stage.
The Location: Lusail & Doha
Unlike tropical coastal races defined by heat and humidity, T100 Qatar delivers a stark and demanding test across the dramatic desert landscapes surrounding Doha. It’s a race for competitors who excel in dry conditions, embrace wide-open terrain, and thrive on a course where relentless winds, exposed roads, and world-class competition demand unwavering focus. Set against a backdrop of modern architecture and Arabian heritage, T100 Qatar blends speed, endurance, and resilience into a uniquely captivating challenge.
The T100 Distance
The PTO’s signature 100km format is designed to be challenging yet accessible:
- 2km swim
- 80km bike
- 18km run
It’s the perfect balance of speed and endurance – long enough to demand smart pacing, but short enough to reward strong, consistent effort throughout.
The Course breakdown
Swim – Arabian Gulf
The one-lap 2km swim starts by the Lusail Ferry Dock and takes place in sheltered marina waters before exiting by T1. It’s a swim that rewards strong pacing and clean navigation rather than brute force.
What to expect:
• Clear, relatively warm water
• Minimal swell
• A spectator-friendly layout close to shore
Bike – Fast & Flowing
If you’re chasing a 100km PB, then the four-lap bike course is where you’ll chip away at your overall finish time. Qatar’s roads are famously smooth, wide and fast. The course features gentle undulations rather than sustained climbs, making it ideal for steady aero riding. Wind can be a factor – this is desert coastline, after all – but December typically brings manageable conditions.
Another major training asset for competitors is the fully car-free, Olympic cycling track, which links Doha to the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. At 33km long, it’s the world’s longest continuous bike path, and showcases just how invested Qatar is in endurance sport infrastructure.
Run – Marina Energy
The three-lap, 18km run starts on Lusail Boulevard and takes athletes on a fast, flat and scenic route around the waterfront of Getaifan Island. With December temperatures far kinder than the Gulf’s summer extremes, conditions are often ideal for strong run splits.
And once you cross the line? Your medal ceremony backdrop is against the stunning marina skyline.
What to expect:
• Flat, fast paths
• Spectator-lined sections
• A vibrant finish-line atmosphere

The race-day conditions
One of Qatar’s biggest advantages is climate. While much of Europe is wrapped in winter layers, race week in Doha typically delivers:
- Daytime sunshine
- Warm but manageable temperatures
- Cool mornings and evenings
- Low likelihood of rain
For athletes preparing for 2027 early-season hot races, it’s also a perfect opportunity to maintain heat adaptation late in the year.
The triathlon community in Qatar
Triathlon in Qatar has grown rapidly in recent years, and the arrival of the T100 has accelerated that momentum.
Local clubs such as TriClub Doha have embraced the race as more than just a one-off event – it’s become a focal point for building grassroots participation and inspiring new athletes. From school engagement initiatives to open community runs during race week, the impact stretches well beyond the pro start line.
For visiting athletes, that means one thing: a warm welcome. The community is international, enthusiastic and inclusive – whether you’re racing for a podium or simply aiming to finish strong.
