Scores on the doors from the Great Britain Age-Group Team in Denmark
Another week and another championship. Can you keep up? I know I struggle, and this is my job….
Herning in Denmark was host of the 2017 ETU Middle Distance Triathlon European Championships, the event held in conjunction with the Garmin Challenge Denmark (www.challengedenmark.dk).
The ETU Age-Group championship element of the race featured over 700 starters from 23 European countries, with the GB team (247 starters), second only to the hosts, Denmark. The home athletes dominated the medal table with a haul of 31, with the Brits earning eight, just ahead of Germany on seven.
The fastest Brits (Age-Group) on the day were Alice Jenkins (the current British Triathlon Age Group Athlete of the Year), who finished in 4:40:11. That made her the fifth fastest AG athlete overall, and winner of the F25-29 category, to add to her British, European and World Championship titles over the Standard distance in 2016.
The quickest GB AG man was Tom Mcglashan (4:17:14), who finished just 16 seconds faster than Stephen Ridley. No medal for Tom however (fourth in M25-29), while Stephen earned the Bronze in M30-34).
Not quite sure how it happened, but I came away with the bronze!🥉🇬🇧@UkTriChat @BritTri @ChallengeDK @ETUtriathlon pic.twitter.com/gWaXfnFH40
