British triathlon star Georgia Taylor-Brown has been sorely missed this season, with the Olympic Games silver and gold medallist racing only four times due to several injuries and setbacks.

In a recently-released interview with Super League Triathlon‘s Adam Leitch, Taylor-Brown revealed that injuries have only been half the story of her struggles over the past 12 months, with domestic problems taking a large toll in the background.

Speaking out about the tough times she endured, Taylor-Brown bravely opens up about fearing for her safety and navigating the long journey back to happiness.

Recounting how she used sport to escape from her home life, Taylor-Brown reveals that things really started to unravel at the Super League Triathlon Championship Series in Malibu last year, as the issues reached breaking point.

The 29-year-old, who won individual silver and Mixed Team Relay gold at the Tokyo Olympics, said that hiding her problems from everyone else and putting on a brave face initially stopped her from reaching out for help. The pressure of elite sport, coupled with her issues in her personal life, eventually left the Brit looking at time away from the sport.
