British hope Hugo Milner has confirmed his place at the Supertri E World Triathlon Championships next month.

Milner, who was inspired to take up the sport after watching Supertri E on TV, made it to the final in London last year and has taken some major steps forward since – with the run his biggest weapon.

He is expected to be even faster this time round on April 5, when he will go up against the likes of former World Triathlon Champion Dorian Coninx.

Coninx to debut

Frenchman Coninx, who collected a bronze medal in the mixed relay at the Tokyo Olympics, will be making his debut in the format at the London Aquatic Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

He already knows he will be competing with defending champion Chase McQueen and triathlon legend Jonathan Brownlee, with Hungarian prodigy Fanni Szalai also set to return in the women’s event.

Szalai famously made headlines when she debuted as a 15-year-old in Sursee, Switzerland two years ago, creating a massive shock by not only qualifying for the finals but finishing on the podium.

Joining the line-up are two other Brits in contention for a medal – Jess Fullagar and Sian Rainsley, with Olympic gold medallist Cassandre Beaugrand and Britain’s defending champion Beth Potter already announced to take part.

Ranking points at stake

For the first time, the 2025 event will mirror the unique and high-pressure Supertri format of three continuous rounds of swim, bike and run, putting even more pressure on athletes with any minor mistake magnified and punished.

And athletes are battling not only for Supertri E World Triathlon Championship titles but also crucial World Triathlon ranking points.
