More British success at the ETU Triathlon European Championships in Kitzbuhel
Gold for Kate Waugh in Austria
After Silver in the ITU Duathlon World Junior Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain, last year – Great Britain’s Kate Waugh has gone one step better in Kitzbuhel today to take the Gold medal at the ETU Junior Triathlon Championships.
Despite losing around 35 seconds in the swim to the early pace-setters, the race largely came together over the 20km bike course to leave the final 5km run the key to decide the medals. Waugh was able to take the title by just three seconds from Sif Madsen Bendix (DEN), with the best run split of the day.
Following on from a great day for the GB Paratriathlon team earlier this morning – hopefully that success can continue this afternoon when the Elite women race. So far, so good for the Brits.
