Alex Yee runs “Fastest 5000m by a GB Junior since 1981”

That Alex Yee can run fast is not news. He’s also a tremendous multisport athlete, currently the 2016 ITU World Junior Duathlon Champion and 2017 ETU European Junior Duathlon Champion.

Alex is part of the very talented group of Junior athletes that could well be the next wave of British triathlon stars over the next few years, as I’ve previously written about.

He has also done a great job of combining his duathlon and triathlon ambitions with progress in running too, including international cross country representation for the British team.

On Saturday night at the International Flanders Athletics Meeting in Oordegem, Belgium, Alex ran a fantastic personal best of 13:37.60 for 5000m. That – with full credit to Athletics historian and statistician, Ian Hodge, is the “Fastest by a GB Junior since 1981”.

VERY impressive work. That’s some progress since the tiny (at the time!) Alex raced his first duathlon events at the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit about ten years ago…!
