Well over $1million of prize money will be up for grabs in the new supertri season – with the majority of it based around the team standings in a major change to the series.

The action gets under way in Boston this Sunday, with the winners of 11 Olympic medals in Paris competing for glory across a five-round series, including individual gold medallists Cassandre Beaugrand and Alex Yee.

And this time the prize pool is very much focussed on the teams and rewarding emerging talent in the sport – with over two thirds of the total $1.365million pot based on the final team standings.

Who are the supertri teams?

The 16 male and 16 female athletes are split into four teams, with Brownlee Racing, Crown Racing, Podium Racing and Stars & Stripes Racing all vying for glory.

It all means the Olympic medallists will renew their rivalries from Paris as well forge their new team dynamics under respective managers Non Stanford, Chris McCormack, Tim Don and Parker Spencer.

The Teams League prize pool is $925,000, with the leading team of four men and four women collecting a cool $375,000. That’s more than the treble the overall team prize pot of $300,000 from 2023.

And it’s in addition to the prize money paid to the top five athletes in the Men’s and Women’s Leagues and the winners of the Swim, Bike and Run Leagues.

The new prize money split is designed to further incentivise team racing under new franchise owners, and also to reward not only those at the very top of the sport but also promising young athletes – each team must have an under-23 athlete on their roster – as well as those on the margins.
