Clumber Park Duathlon Postponed
Event organisers, OSB Events, have made the difficult decision to postpone due to bad weather. The event was due to be the Triathlon England National Standard Distance Championships and host a number of Great Britain Age-Group Team qualifiers. A new date for the event to take place is Saturday 5 May.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice, and the organisers have reviewed the forecasted road surface temperatures before reaching the decision to postpone. There is a high potential for a light covering of snow from 3am onwards, and ice on the roads between 6am-9am in the north Nottinghamshire area. Competitors are also travelling long distances and snow is expected to hit the north of England this evening, potentially impacting on driving conditions to and from the event.
Event director, Iain Hamilton said: “We, no doubt similar to many others, are gutted by this. We have already built the event infrastructure and were looking forward to welcoming athletes onto site.”
OSB Events have confimred Saturday 5th May as the new date for the Clumber Park Duathlon and will send athletes further information regarding confirming a place into the re-arranged event or deferring until the 2019 event.
The new date will encompass the following:
- 2018 Triathlon England National Duathlon Championships
- 2018 ITU Standard Distance Duathlon Qualifier (Draft Illegal)
- 2019 ITU Standard Distance Duathlon Qualifier (Draft Illegal)
- 2019 ETU Sprint Distance Duathlon Qualifier (Draft Illegal)
Athletes having registered their intent to qualify for the Great Britian Age-Group Team for either championships will be contacted with further information.
