The iconic Always Aim High Events organised Pedalcover Slateman Triathlon has sold out for a fifth successive year.

Taking place on the Saturday and Sunday the 20th and 21st May, the Pedalcover Slateman Triathlon will welcome in excess of 1,600 competitors to the Llanberis in the heart of Snowdonia National Park for some of the finest triathlon action anywhere in Europe.

The Slateman is the first race in Always Aim High’s ‘Suunto Adventure Triathlon Series 2017’, the other two races being the Snowman in July, and the Sandman in September.

The action kicks off on the Saturday, when triathletes taking on the first part of their Savage challenge join the sprint distance competitors for a 400m swim in the chilly waters of Llyn Padarn, before setting off on a 20km cycle which includes the famous Pen y Pass climb and ends with a 6km trail race up Dinorwig quarry and down through Padarn Country Park.

On Sunday, standard distance triathletes and Savage competitors return to take on the Full distance of the Slateman. The full Slateman course features a memorable 1,000m swim, a 51km cycle route through the heart of Snowdonia National Park and is finished off with a (literally) breathtaking 11km trail run across an extended version of Saturday’s quarry route.

A new addition for 2017 will be the Slateman Ultimate Lakeside party. Organised by North Wales company Gorjys Events, the Saturday evening party will see a coming together of fantastic local bands with local food and beverage retailers under a huge marquee in the Slateman event village – tickets for this are now on general sale.

Limited entries are still available for the Suunto Adventure Triathlon Series, which includes the Slateman, as well as the Snowman and Sandman. Head to alwaysaimhighevents.com to find out more about the series.

Entries for the 2018 Slateman will open at a one-off discounted rate for two weeks after the 2017 race.
