Yellow Jersey Cycle Insurance launch University Triathlon Scholarship

Here is a great opportunity for student triathletes - the Yellow Jersey Insurance University Triathlon Scholarship. Here are the details...
Last updated -

Yellow Jersey Cycle Insurance has launched a University Triathlon Scholarship to support a UK based student through the 2018 triathlon season.

The scholarship will be awarded to a student who can best demonstrate their passion for triathlon and a proactive desire to get more participants into the sport. Recent research from the Triathlon Industries Association showed that there was a drop off in triathlon participation at University and so this scholarship aims to encourage more students to keep triathlon up as well as take up the sport.

Endorsed by industry body, British Triathlon, the scholarship will include an enviable package of support for the 2018 triathlon season from a range of British Triathlon partners. The scholarship includes:

  • An annual Yellow Jersey Bicycle Insurance policy
  • An annual Yellow Jersey Travel Insurance policy
  • £1000 to spend on the 2018 triathlon season
  • A training session with a British Triathlon coach
  • A Kit Brix transition bag
  • A ROKA kit bundle
  • A year’s free Training Peaks subscription
  • A year’s supply of SIS nutrition

Emily Conrad-Pickles, Head of Marketing at Yellow Jersey Insurance commented:

“We want to get as many students across the UK to get into triathlon. Triathlon offers a fantastic all round work out with your training split between swim, run, bike and core strength but the sport also has all the mental benefits of exercise.

“Although triathlons are, in general, individual participation races, the team spirit and camaraderie of training with a group not only makes exercise fun, it also makes triathlon a very social sport and a great way to make new friends.  We are keen to get as many students as possible engaging with triathlon while they are at university.

“We’re looking for someone whose passion for triathlon is infectious. An athlete who isn’t just getting up for 6am training on their own, but is encouraging their housemates to go with them.”

The scholarship will be judged by an expert panel from the triathlon industry which will be announced shortly.

Entries open on 16 October 2017 and the winner will be announced on 8 January 2018. Any UK student is eligible to enter via the Yellow Jersey University Triathlon Webpage or via participating University Athletic Unions.
