British & Irish Age-Group podiums at the debut IRONMAN 70.3 Oman

Chief Correspondent

As you may have read in our Weekend Preview piece (check it out HERE), the debut of IRONMAN 70.3 Oman, Muscat, attracted a significant entry from British and Irish athletes.

The race took place today (Friday), local time, and a quick look through the results indicates several podium finishes (and likely many more World Championship qualification slots), from those entries.

While the event was Age-Group only, we did spot a familiar name still racing (and finishing second overall) in the women’s event – none other than six-time IRONMAN World Champion, Natascha Badmann, winning the F50-54 division by more than 37 minutes and second fastest female overall (4:39:24).

The fastest British athletes overall on the day were Joseph Maynard (4:23:53, 3rd M30-34, 6th overall) and Suzanne Matonti (5:02:27, 3rd F35-37, 7th overall).
