Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand is now the French national record holder at both 5km and 10km on the road.
Beaugrand has always been one of triathlon’s greatest runners but the last couple of years have seen her take that to new levels.
In 2025 she claimed the 5km record and on Saturday evening she added the 10km mark after racing in Lille where she became the first Frenchwoman to ever dip under 31 minutes.
Double delight
In a high class field the women’s race was won by Kenya’s Agnes Ngetich in 28:58, with Beaugrand seventh out of thousands.
She stopped the clock in 30:52, an average pace of 3:05km/min.
That’s easily the fastest in terms of the French record – Alessia Zarbo was the previous best with 31:00.
And it goes alongside Beaugrand’s French best of 14:53 for the 5km from Monaco in February 2025.
To compare to her triathlon times – which obviously come after a swim and bike – she produced the fastest run split of 32:42 when powering away from her rivals in the 10km to take gold at Paris 2024.

Perfect preparation
It underlines her run form heading into the first big short course race of the season – WTCS Samarkand on 25 April.
And bar her compatriot Emma Lombardi, she will face pretty much all her main rivals in what is a stacked field.
That includes Britain’s Beth Potter, who took bronze behind Beaugrand’s gold at Paris 2024, as well as Leonie Periault who last week set a sensational half marathon time in Berlin.
