Jonny Brownlee will make supertri comeback in Toulouse despite late scare

A crash during the bike familiarisation wasn't the ideal build-up but triathlon superstar will still race in Toulouse.

Jonny Brownlee will make his race return on Sunday at supertri Toulouse despite a crash in bike familiarisation.

The triathlon legend – who has Olympic gold, silver and bronze medals to his name – missed the first two races of the series because he was getting married and then wasn’t quite ready to compete in the third event in London.

The fourth race in Toulouse has been pencilled in as his comeback – but a late scare almost put his participation in jeopardy.

‘He’s back on his feet’

Brownlee slid to the ground shortly after crossing the line at the finish of the bike course.

The footage on supertri’s Instagram account shows him being attended to by medics, with the post reading: @jonnybrownleetri down in familiarisation 😧

“He’s back on his feet and will be on the start line in Toulouse.”

That’s great news for all concerned, not least the fans who cheered him throughout the team presentations on Saturday.

Ground to make up for Brownlee Racing

Jonny and brother Alistair are part-owners of the Brownlee Racing franchise.

Jonny is taking a player/manager role in terms of overseeing proceedings, though he is leaving the full management duties on the ground to Non Stanford at all supertri events in 2024.

And Brownlee Racing have work to do as they are bottom of the team standings heading into Toulouse and are also without their star man Alex Yee as he misses the event due to jury duty.
