After a brilliant victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside last weekend, Lionel Sanders demonstrated once again why he should never be overlooked as a contender in any race he enters.

Following the highs and lows of the past few seasons, which have been well documented on his YouTube channel, the Canadian vowed to keep trusting the process after his victory in California.

Talbot Cox, who as the mastermind behind Sanders’ YouTube channel is a firsthand witness to this process, shared after the race on Instagram the setbacks he has witness his friend overcome and why this year is his for the taking.

“This year, he is HIM”

Having documented the 36-year-old for several years, Cox offered his assurances that this season Sanders is the real deal, having transformed his fortunes over a winter of hard work in Tucson.

“I’ve traveled the world with this guy, seeing him through his best and worst times. This year, he is HIM. His training in Tucson this past winter has transformed him into an athlete I would fear on the start line.

“The professional side of this sport is brutal, but I’ve had the privilege to witness firsthand both the highs and the lows. This past weekend wiped away all the tough races and seasons I’ve seen over the last few years.”

“This is just the beginning”

Currently leading the IRONMAN Pro Series, Sanders set himself up perfectly for the season ahead with his win in Oceanside, but has bigger goals on the horizon.

Dedicated to becoming the best, says Cox, is what sets Sanders apart, and he is confident that 2024 has much more in store for Mr “No Limits”.

“Lionel’s work ethic and dedication to his craft, striving to be the best, truly inspires me. Celebrating the good times is easy, but they’re always preceded by hard times.

“I believe this is just the beginning for Lionel this season. Thank you for letting me be a part of the team, Lionel. I’m more excited than ever for this year!”
