When pro triathletes Harry Palmer and Andrew Horsfall-Turner came up with the idea of launching a new podcast, they could never have foreseen that one of the sport’s true legends would step in and steal their limelight.
Packed full of witty discussion, the prospect of interesting guest appearances, and more than a hint of playful mickey-taking, their new pod kicked off post-Christmas in promising fashion, whetting the appetite for more fun and frolics to come.
Friends since meeting at a race in the post-COVID era, the duo have battled their way up through the amateur ranks to take their places among the pros and will once again be testing their skills on the circuit when the 2026 season gets underway.
‘Uncomfortable Triathlon’ launched on Monday
Their first episode of the wonderfully titled ‘Uncomfortable Triathlon’ launched on Monday, with the pair introducing themselves as ‘B-tier, rather than top-tier professionals’ and as athletes who have more than once been left humbled by their more illustrious, big-name opponents.
What they could not have foreseen, however, was that even their podcast launch was about to be somewhat overshadowed, as Frodeno also chose that particular day to release his first episode of ‘Going Mental’, complete with an hour-long interview with Olympics royalty Alistair Brownlee.

The coincidental clash with one of their sporting heroes may have relegated them down the pecking order in terms of this week’s triathlon podcast options, but – and very much in keeping with the spirit of their show – they chose to see the funny side of things with a post on Instagram that noted: “Decided to start a podcast at the same time as @janfrodeno – what could possibly go wrong?🤦♂️😂”
Horsfall-Turner added: “It made us laugh a lot. One of the ‘GOATS’ of triathlon is starting a podcast at the same time as us!!!”
‘We are not athletes who are winning championships’
Laughter is very much a theme of their podcast, with their fun and relaxed style coming across in the very opening few minutes, as Horsfall-Turner admits: “We are not athletes who are winning championships; we are just two guys who are trying to make it, and I guess that means we bring a slightly different dynamic.”
Highlighting the challenges and experiences of becoming a professional triathlete, the hosts will share their personal journeys and reflections as they progress through the forthcoming campaign, balancing informative content with a healthy slice of entertainment.

“We started the pod purely as a bit of fun to chat about our own training and journeys in triathlon, chat about interesting topics in triathlon and get some awesome guests on,” Palmer tells us. “It’s going to be a bit of a hybrid podcast that’s sometimes educational but also entertaining. We’re just two pros from the UK who want to share what we know and can hopefully educate and entertain the listeners.
“Two key segments each episode will be “Roast of the Week”, where listeners can send in their roasts of Andy and me, with us then picking the best one and reading it out on the episode. This is purely to create a bit of a fun and entertaining atmosphere.
‘Nice to share some positivity’
“The next key segment will be “Shoutout of the Week”, where we look to give a person/ product/ brand a bit of much-needed attention if we think they’re doing a great job. It’s more often than not when you’re working hard towards something and documenting the journey, you really don’t get the attention you deserve – it’s only when you’re successful that people notice you, so we thought it would be nice to share some positivity.”
Horsfall-Turner, who started his career as an elite swimmer, is set to kick off his 2026 campaign at IRONMAN South Africa in April, adds: “I’ve been a big podcast consumer over the last few years. I find them the best way to get training sessions and commuting done solo.
“It’s almost like you feel you’re part of a conversation, and time just flies. So if we can bring a little humour and information that can help others, then that would be awesome!”
Palmer, 28, will soon be heading out for a winter training camp in Lanzarote alongside Freddie Webb and Josh Lewis as he prepares for a season where he will be mainly focused on the 70.3 circuit, with races lined up in Dallas and Oceanside.
Last season, he enjoyed success by winning the Swansea 70.3 and finishing third at IRONMAN Leeds, while also recording a fourth place at 70.3 Sweden and a sixth at the Challenge Championship in Samorin – where he is lined up to return later this year.
The Uncomfortable Triathlon podcast is available on both Apple and Spotify.
