After a brilliant swim-bike, French star Leonie Periault stunned the field with an unbelievable run, as the 29-year-old dominated the race to take a maiden victory at WTCS Yokohama.

In the highly-anticipated clash, Taylor Knibb finished second, as her compatriots Taylor Spivey and Kirsten Kasper just missed automatic Olympic team selection in fourth and fifth, with 2016 gold medalist Gwen Jorgensen back in 15th.

In third, rising star Emma Lombardi completed a French 1-3, with Team France cementing their position as favourites for both the individual and mixed team relay events this summer in Paris.
