Based at the Xcel Leisure Centre in Canley for the swim, using surrounding roads for the cycle route and the surrounding area for the run, the event will comprise Coventry’s first sprint triathlon. The distances of a 400m swim, 20k cycle and a run of 5k means the event is more than accessible for anyone wanting to have a go, and any type of roadworthy bike can be used for the cycle phase.

The event will be run entirely by volunteers, many from Coventry Triathletes, but as a large event requiring lots of help the Club would also love to welcome anyone who is able to give their time.

“We feel as Coventry Triathletes are the city's Triathlon Club, and with London 2012 on the horizon, it is the perfect time to play host to a triathlon in Coventry,” comments Dave Grant, a member of Coventry Triathletes who is leading the project. “We hope the event will prove a great springboard for those interested in having a go at triathlon and a showcase for how accessible the sport is to others who are yet to take the plunge”.

Entries for the event, at a cost of just £35, are open through the Club’s website where further information and updates can be found. For those interested in competing for a cause the event has teamed up with Marie Curie as its official Charity.
