Sunday’s fifth edition of the Polar Cannes International Triathlon proved once again that the middle (ish) distance event has become one of the most popular events of the early season. Perfectly timed for athletes to enjoy a great race in stunning surroundings, and also as a stepping stone towards summer target races, it is an event we certainly enjoyed when visiting three years ago. Well worth considering, it is also a very simple trip for those of you travelling from the U.K.

The headline names for the event were Javier Gomez and Great Britain’s Lucy Charles. Javier won in fine style, crossing the line 12 minutes clear, while Lucy had to overcome a puncture early in the 107km bike leg to earn her victory.

Here are some great images of the race, all courtesy of top photographer Jose Luis Hourcade (www.joseluishourcade.com).
