The latest battle between the Olympic one-two looks like it will have to wait until the WTCS Grand Final later this month.

Olympic champion Alex Yee will miss his latest showdown with Hayden Wilde because of jury duty.

Yee, the most decorated Olympic triathlete of all time with two golds, a silver and a bronze, overhauled Wilde late on in an epic race in Paris and the pair have continued their great rivalry ever since.

Advantage Yee in 2024

The Brit again got the better of the Kiwi in the opening supertri race in Boston, which sparked a headline-making celebration on the line (pictured below).

But Wilde struck back in style by taking the next two races, in Chicago and London.

Things swung back Yee’s way last time out though when he was at his brilliant best in China to win WTCS Weihai and take a huge step towards becoming World Champion for the first time.

Willis gets his chance

But jury duty means he’s unable to race this weekend at supertri Toulouse.

Yee would have led the Brownlee Racing team but his absence opens the door for his good friend Jack Willis, fresh from his first-ever WTCS top 10 in Weihai to take his place.

Wilde meanwhile is in pole position for the supertri title after those two wins and the only way he can improve his score (as his best three results count) is by winning in France.

And there should still be time for two more Yee / Wilde battles this year – at the WTCS Grand Final in Torremolinos-Andalucia later this month and then the supertri finale in Neom, Saudi Arabia.
