We’ve written separately about a great result from Alison Rowatt at the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday – but there was plenty else going on over the weekend in the running world, with Richard Horton and Ben Dijkstra performing well, yet again, from a multisport perspective.

Reading Half Marathon – RESULTS

19th March – Madejski Stadium

With a 29:27 10km this year, and some excellent cross country results, that British Elite Duathlon Champion and former World Junior and Under-23 Duathlon Champion, Richard Horton, was in good running form was not in question.

He added another great early season marker yesterday, finishing fourth overall in a time of 1:05:37 at the Reading Half Marathon, one of the major pre-London Marathon events on the running calendar. That is pretty much spot on 5min/mile pace.

1st – Andy Vernon (AFD) – 1:03:08
2nd – Chris Thompson (AFD) – 1:03:39
3rd – Dewi Griffiths (Swansea) – 1:03:54
4th – Richard Horton (Shaftesbury Barnet) – 1:05:37
5th – Kevin Seaward (Cardiff) – 1:05:38

For context, some other British Elite triathletes half marathon PB’s include Adam Bowden (1:05:53 – Wokingham 2013), Mark Buckingham (1:05:52 – Wilmslow 2013) and Matt Sharp (1:05:03 – Great North Run 2014).

English Schools Cross Country Championships – RESULTS

18th March – Norfolk County Showground, Norwich

We seem to have been writing about him for years… but yes, Ben Dijkstra IS still in school! On Saturday he won his fourth English Schools XC Champs in Norwich.
