Trio of British Junior triathletes heading to Samorin, Slovakia
Wednesday’s announcement of the British team to race at the European Cross Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, on Sunday 10th December including three familiar names to the British triathlon scene.
The six strong Junior Men’s team includes current World Junior Bronze medallist, Ben Dijkstra plus Matthew Willis, who finished second this year at the Panevezys ETU Triathlon Youth European Championships Festival in Lithuania. Dijkstra and Willis finished first and third, respectively, at the European Trials in Liverpool last weekend.
Still repping @HUUBDesign despite being much colder than most tri conditions! Big thanks for the support and keeping me warm today – over the moon to be selected for Euro XC in two weeks time 🙌🏼🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/wg1YVruq7g

The Junior Women’s team includes Erin Wallace, second this year at ETU Junior European Cup events in Lausanne and Holten. Erin finished fifth in the trial race – the top six finishers in that Liverpool race all selected to travel to Samorin – was was the case for the Junior Men.
The event will be held at the x-bionic sphere (www.xbionicsphere.com), the same venue which we visited earlier this year, which hosted The Championship from Challenge Family, the $150,000 event won by Lionel Sanders and Lucy Charles.
Home athlete Richard Varga – an ambassador for the event – recently qualified for the senior race by finishing third in the Slovakian Championships at the same venue.
