European Champion Jess Learmonth joins HUUB

HUUB add ETU Female Triathlete of the Year and ITU Breakout Star to sponsored athletes

HUUB are thrilled to welcome Jess Learmonth to the HUUB tribe officially. Last year really was a breakthrough year for the winner of the European Championships, who also gained her first World Triathlon Series podium results. Results which made her the highest placed European female in the 2017 WTS rankings.

Her strong performance in the WTS throughout 2017 led to her being crowned the ITU’s Breakout Star, in addition to the ITU’s Best Swimmer and title holder for the Fastest ITU Swim. She was in good company with HUUB triathlon superstars, Alistair Brownlee, Jonny Brownlee, Richard Varga, Kristian Blummenfelt and para-triathlete Jetze Plat also receiving similar accolades from the ITU.

It wasn’t just the ITU that recognised her achievements; the European Triathlon named her Female Triathlete of the Year, a well-deserved winner after a fantastic season.

Dean Jackson, HUUB’s owner, commented, “Jess is a serious contender this year, after a superb performance at the ITU World Series season opener which saw Jess first out of the water and finishing second on a treacherous course. We’re excited to see what the rest of 2018 has in store for her, and it is clear that swimming is a key strength for Jess. It is nice to see someone that has been in triathlon for a relatively short time rise to success so quickly.”

The British triathlon star is from Leeds, also home to HUUB endorsed triathletes Gordon Benson, Harry Wiltshire and the Brownlee brothers. Learmonth previously swam for the City of Leeds Swimming Club, played golf for Wetherby Golf Club and played football for Leeds United Ladies Academy before switching to triathlon and being signed up to the Leeds based World-Class Performance Squad in 2015.
