The success of ‘triathletes’ – past or present – at the RTTC National 100-mile Time Trial Championship continued yesterday.
Last year, the event was won by multiple ETU Middle Distance medallist and 2013 Outlaw Triathlon winner, Vicky Gill, while in recent years the likes of Kate Allan, Rebecca Slack and Lucy Gossage are among those who have either won or made the podium at the event.
With very limited racing in 2020, this was actually the first of RTTC National Championship of the season, and it would appear that plenty of the triathletes were taking the opportunity to race over the closest distance to an iron-distance bike course.
Taking the overall female win was Katrina Matthews, who has such a breakthrough 2019 season which ended with an 8:53 IRONMAN in Western Australia, and then being signed up by the BMC-Vifit Pro Triathlon Team.
The Bronze went to Ruth Astle, who is now racing Pro (well, if there were races on!), after winning the overall Age-Group title at the IRONMAN World Championship last year.
Laura Siddall (5th) and Tara Grosvenor (9th) also made the top ten, but no such luck for Kimberley Morrison who’s day was ended after 116km with a puncture.
