Jeanne Lehair made it two Supertri wins in succession when she followed up her Chicago success with another impressive victory in Jersey.

And on a near-perfect day for her Podium Racing outfit, she was followed across the line by teammate Léonie Périault.

Georgia Taylor-Brown (Crown Racing) took third and it all means that heading into the finale in Toulouse it’s Lehair who leads the way on 30 points, with Périault on 28 and both Taylor-Brown and Jolien Vermeylen on 27.

Stage 1

Supertri returned to its spiritual home of St Helier for the first time since 2021 and, after heavy rain in the morning, the sun was out for the start of the women’s race.

The format was Enduro – so three back-to-back triathlons with no rest in between.

And on the first 300m swim it was Anna Godoy and Tilly Anema who led it out, with the former swiftest through transition to get the first short chute for Stars & Stripes.

A steep ramp from the water to T1 added an extra challenge and Supertri Toronto winner Vermeylen dropped back after a slip on that.

Meanwhile there were two penalties for Crown Racing – Emma Jeffcoat for not doing her helmet up and Siena Stephens (a late replacement for Nora Gmür) for mounting the bike too early.

The roads were starting to dry out after the early rain and the bike handling skills of Taylor-Brown were to the fore as she made up plenty of ground to move into the lead in a Crown one-two with Miriam Casillas García.

However they were somehow pipped for the next short chute by Lehair, who showed the brilliant transition speed which would later win her the race.

Onto the run then and it was Lehair – Godoy – GTB in that order, while Périault had broken clear of the chasers to go into fourth.

A kick on the second run lap from Lehair denied Taylor-Brown the short chute again while Périault had now joined up to the front three.

Stage 2

It was all change on the second swim – Godoy came to the front and we now had a front pack of six – Lehair, Beth Cook, Vermeylen, Périault and GTB, just six seconds covering them. Fanni Szalai, fresh from her first podium last time out, was at +17s and it was already 39s and more to the rest.

Szalai’s chances were dealt a hammer blow soon afterwards however as she took a tumble onto the tarmac.

As on the first stage Taylor-Brown was now leading it out on the bike, with Lehair, Cook – who was putting up a fantastic show in only her second Supertri race – and Périault in second, third and fourth respectively.

GTB tried to assert on the first of two run laps but Lehair was having none of it and moved to the front on the second loop.

Ahead of the swim Lehair was seven seconds ahead of GTB, with Périault at 14s in third and a tricky decision for Podium chief John Anthony as to which of his athletes would get the short chute.

He went for Périault over Lehair, a decision which would later be fully vindicated.

The other short chute went to Godoy who won it herself for Stars & Stripes. At that point she was battling for fourth with Cook and Vermeylen but would end up being eliminated before she could take the short chute!

Stage 3

The final swim saw Périault power past Taylor-Brown so it was a Podium one-two starting the bike.

Taylor-Brown again tried to put daylight between herself and the Podium duo on lap two but couldn’t make it stick and the three were back together heading into T2.

That was where a quite brilliant transition from Lehair pretty much settled it even though Périault had the short chute.

She took that at the end of the first lap but the gaps were now significant and Lehair crossed the line in 54:35, eight seconds ahead of Périault, with another eight seconds back to GTB in third.
