It’s a very different schedule for the T100 Triathlon World Tour this year, ahead of an even more dramatic evolution in 2027.

And there has been a ringing endorsement from the sport’s star names for the first event on the Gold Coast on the weekend of 21-22 March.

There will just be one pro race at each event until the Grand Final in Qatar and first up it’s the women who take centre stage in Australia on Sunday, March 22 at 6.30am local time.

And of the biggest hitters in the T100 in the last couple of seasons four of the five line up, with the only exception being reigning IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Lucy Charles-Barclay who is currently sidelined through injury.

Stunning start

The 2025 T100 overall winner – and world number one – Kate Waugh tops the list. And the Brit is followed by the woman she succeeded as T100 champion, American phenom Taylor Knibb.

Switzerland’s Julie Derron was runner-up to Waugh while Aussie Ashleigh Gentle was fourth and they too will toe the start line.

It promises a mouth-watering battle between four of the very best female middle-distance athletes and they will be joined by the 11 listed below who booked their spots on the back of last season’s T100 exploits and the latest rankings.

Kat Matthews very much belongs in that select company too but she is focussed on the defence of her IRONMAN Pro Series title for the first part of the campaign at least.

Added to those 15 will be five wildcards who will be revealed in the coming days.

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) announced in December that the Triathlon World Tour will launch in 2027 and combine the existing T100 Triathlon World Tour, a rebranded World Triathlon Championship Series and World Triathlon Cups.

Added to that now are two newly formed ‘Challenger’ series after the PTO’s recent acquisition of a majority shareholding in Challenge Family.
