Double Olympic Champion absent from SLT Jersey 2018

After second at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships, DQ at the ITU Grand Final and fourth last weekend at the Beijing International Triathlon, Alistair Brownlee will not be completing his September with another format of racing – he was not part of the Slot Draw held this morning in St. Helier.

No (official) news yet [OFFICIAL UPDATE BELOW] as to the withdrawal, but my comment after Beijing last week was, “logic would suggest that the Super Sprint formats next weekend could mean a tough couple of days for the double Olympic Champion..”.

“Two-time Olympic gold medallist and two-time ITU World Champion Alistair Brownlee has unfortunately had to withdraw from competing in this weekend’s RBC Super League Jersey, due to an injury to his achilles. However, Alistair is arriving in Jersey today (Friday 29th September) and will play an integral role in the Super League Triathlon broadcast team, providing fans around the world with an insider’s view on how to race this unpredictable game-changing format.”

2016 and 2017 World Champion, Flora Duffy, will also not be racing – but will be part of the broadcast and commentary team.
